our therapists

MONIK LOPEZ, OWNER, MS, LMHC

A little about me:  I'm a lover of nature and travel. Being outdoors provides such a sense of peace and happiness for me. Whenever I feel irritated, stressed or sad, you can usually find me on (or under) the water, mountain biking, in yoga practice or even some Olympic weightlifting in my driveway. What a mix, right?! I grew up in the punk rock scene right here in South Florida, so my style of therapy tends to be a little less conventional and stems from those roots that still live within who I became as an adult. "Stay True" is something I really believe in, because it's when we start living our lives based on other peoples needs that we suffer the most.

Although I am a professional therapist, my intention is to create a down-to-earth, real relationship with you. I practice transparency with my clients to help build trust and open communication. We're all in this life together and my struggles are just as real as yours.  My theory of practice is primarily psychodynamic, which focuses on the unconscious and learning how it is showing up in our lives today. My intention is to help you create more self awareness around how our past may influence our present, and help you to reconnect to your true self.

Something I've learned over the years is that depression, anxiety and other symptoms can teach us a lot about who we are on a deeper soul level. We might be a good fit if you are wanting to better understand yourself and your relationship patterns, struggle with perfectionism, people pleasing or setting boundaries with others, or finding time to engage in your personal interests and hobbies.

I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and certified fitness coach. I 'm trained in both EMDR Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.  For 12 years I have been helping people in the community meet their lifestyle goals, stay active and become healthier physically and mentally. My hope is that together, we can find an approach that works well for you to help you strengthen your relationship with self and others,  and live a happier, more productive life!

LISA DORFMAN, MS, LMHC, RD

I’m Lisa Dorfman, known by colleagues, clients and friends as The Running Nutritionist® my title which dates back to ’84 when I began my journey as a professional triathlete, runner and nutrition therapist. While I am no longer a pro athlete, nor competing at the level I once did, I get to work with some of the finest athletes in the world—Olympians, professionals, our military servicemen and women, first responders and “athletes” like YOU—everyday men, women, teens and kids seeking to perform your best whether at sport, in school, at work, or at home.

You see we are all athletes in life, just looking for tools and strategies to help us navigate through the marathons of our lives—balancing our more challenging times while trying to share and celebrate good times living the lifestyle, we’d like to lead with the people we love most.

My counseling style is as eclectic as my professional expertise as I hold several professional degrees, licenses and certifications and decades of experience with children-the elderly; the federal correctional system to Fortune 500 companies; the military to the Olympic teams; and more than fifteen hospitals and medical practices to draw from. In addition to being a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I am a Licensed Nutritionist/ Registered Dietitian, Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, Certified Chef, Certified Horticulturist, Certified USAT&F & USA Triathlon Coach and Certified Personal Trainer and  Certified Reiki Practitioner.

I work best with teens and adults in transition, dealing with partner, career, lifestyle changes and the anxiety and stress of everyday life; hormonal “adjustments” whether pre-puberty, puberty or perimenopause; those healing from relationship and marital breakups and trauma; and competitive athletes seeking to overcome performance anxiety, overtraining syndrome, injury, illness and defeat. You may find my therapy style a good fit for you if you are open and willing to trust the process as I will incorporate different strategies to help you to attain and maintain your personal best in health, sport and life.

Whether its conventional counseling, performance coaching, nutritional therapy, energy therapy or fitness, together we will find the right tool to help you to unwind and leave the past behind, move forward and successfully with relationships, school, career and your spiritual health as naturally as possible with any and all of the tools I can use to help you reach optimal overall health.
